Raise your hands if you’re feeling the need to be more mindful about the food you stick in your belly in the New Year.
Yep, you and me both.
But, if you’re like me, you need rules and guidelines, right?
Enter Dallas and Melissa Hartwig’s awesome Whole30® program.
It seems a lot of people on the interwebz are starting a Whole 30 for New Year’s. With so many great resources, like this one, I’m kind of wishing I was, too! If you’re thinking of doing one, definitely click through and read NonNom Paleo’s post about prepping.
I am starting a new challenge on Jan. 3, the Advocare 24-Day Challenge. Lots of people at my box use Advocare products and are doing the challenge, so I thought I’d give it a go (I also signed up to be a distributor). We have three teams of 10 and the winner from each team gets $100!
We had our measurements and weigh-in yesterday. I’ve gained back five of the 11 pounds I lost on my 45-day Whole 30 in November. I’m hoping at least some of that is muscle, since I’ve made a conscious effort to up my protein intake, including adding back in my Progenex recovery shakes (banned on Whole 30 for dairy), and I’ve been doing my best to train at higher intensity and weights.
That’s not so bad, considering I’ve loosened the paleo reins for the holiday season and allowed myself the occasional (or occasionally frequent!) sugary, carby treat.
So as much as I’m tempted to kick off the New Year with another Whole 30, I’m going to give this a shot and do my best to stay strict paleo for the 24 days and compare the results.
